Hirby Lacole was created by a biracial young woman named Dosinique Nichols who also goes by Blue. Hi that's me, I created this clothing brand because as a kid I was always in love with clothes and fashion and how an outfit can really make someone shine and feel special. My family would get me Barbie dolls and I would never play with them but I would take the clothes and just dress them up using different clothing pieces from different dolls. When I got to elementary school and moved to NC I joined a sewing class and loved it. What made me love it so much was because I was a really tiny kid and I had a hard time trying to find clothes to fit so I wanted to make my own. After learning how to sew I stuck with it started creating my own pieces here and there with the sewing machine my grandma got me. When I got to High school I took another sewing class and there is when I knew that I really enjoyed making clothes my way and the fact I was setting trends without even trying to do so. One time I was getting ready for school and I couldn't find a belt so I took an old charger and I made it into a belt that day just so it could hold my pants up and next thing I know it became a huge thing in school along with my different color hair. Designing was something I was really good at, it was all I could think about. when I had learned about a girl that started her own business from school in clothing I was like why didn't I think of that. I wanted to create something that everyone could feel amazing in and express who they are. The name comes from my grandfathers name and my middle name because he was the dad in my life that was there for me and my mom before passed on and I wanted to honor him with something in his name.
